Specimen examined:— BRAZIL.Amazonas, Manaus, RDS-Tupé. 28 April 2013, fl.,fr., A.L. Corrêa 218 (EAFM!, HUAM!, INPA!).

Distribution and habitat:— Endemic to Brazil in the Atlantic forest ( Guimarães, 2015). In the reserve, it is cultivated in the backyards as an ornamental plant.

Comments:— The genus can be identified by the cochleate seeds. Among the species of Tibouchina that occur in the reserve, it can be recognized by the lanceolate leaf blade.
