Treelet 4.10–8 m tall. Rhytidome with papyraceous brown to gray blades. Branches erect, cylindrical, not winged, rufous; branches, petioles, leaves abaxial surface, inflorescences, bracts, hypanthium and fruits with dendritic persistent trichomes. Leaves opposite, isophyllous; petioles 3.4–8.1 mm long; leaf blades 23.4–35.6 × 13.6–18.1 mm long, chartaceous, discolored, symmetrical, oval, base attenuate, apex acuminate, margins entire, not ciliate, adaxial side with dendritic trichomes on old leaves over the veins, leaf veins 5, suprabasal. Paniculate 16.1–24.6 × 5.8–7.3 cm, terminal; bracts 3.3–5.4 mm long, linear, caducous; bracts only on the floral bud. Flowers 5-merous; pedicel ca. 0.9 mm long; hypanthium ca. 5.3 mm long, oblong, wrinkled; calyx double, persistent; lacinia triangular; petals ca. 7.5 × 3.9 mm, white, obovate, symmetrical, apex rounded base attenuate, margins not ciliate, glabrous; stamens 10, heteromorphic, smaller anthers ca. 6.5 mm, larger anthers up to 9.6 mm long, lilac, sickle-shaped, curved, apex attenuate, with glands at the ventral part of the anthers base,1 apical pore, connective not prolonged, filament with glandular persistent trichomes; ovary superior, placentation axillary, 3-locular, with glandular trichomes; style ca. 15.1 mm long, straight, with glandular persistent trichomes. Berry 8.7–11.2 × 7.1–7.6 mm, unripe fruit green, ripe fruit orange; seeds numerous, triangular.

Distribution and habitat:— Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Venezuela, Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, Suriname, French Guiana, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia ( Goldenberg et al. 2013) In Brazil it occurs in Amazonian and Atlantic forests and Cerrado ( Goldenberg & Caddah 2015). In the reserve, it occurs on “terra firme” slopes on clay soil with a lot of organic matter.

Comments:— This species is frequent in the reserve. It can be recognized by the rhytidome with papyraceous, brown to gray blades, and stamens with glandular trichomes on their bases.
