Distribution and habitat: — Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru, Venezuela, Suriname ( Berry et al. 2001). In Brazil it occurs in Amazonian forests ( Michelangeli & Reginato 2015). In the reserve, it occurs in “terra firme”, in secondary vegetation and trail edges, on clay soil and low organic matter. Comments: —This species is frequent in the reserve. It can be easily recognized by the asymmetrical leaf base.
