Type: PHILIPPINES, Mindanao, Bukidnon, Kalatungan Mountain Range, epiphytic in montane forest with open canopy, elev. 1,200 m, 21 st May 2016, MDL 007/2016 (HOLOTYPE: CMUH 00010858).

Diagnosis: Ceratostylis pristina M.D. De Leon, Naive & Cootes , is similar to C. elmeri Ames. It differs however, in the plant habit, which in C. pristina is clumping, whereas the plant of C. elmeri is a pendent, rhizomatous grower, which appears to only produce roots basally. The flowers of C. pristina are more than one-quarter smaller in size. Because of its flower color, C. pristina is also similar to C. philippinensis , however, it can be recognized by having a marked difference in the shape of the lip, sepals, and petals.
