Positive for esculin hydrolysis and nitrate reduction (weak) but negative for indole production, glucose fermentation, arginine dihydrolase, urease and gelatinase. D-Glucose, L-arabinose, D-mannose, D-maltose and malate are utilized. Does not utilize D-mannitol, Nacetyl-glucosamine, gluconate, caprate, adipate, citrate and phenylacetate.
