Description of Micrococcus antarcticus View in CoL View at ENA AX5

Cells are Gram­staining­positive, non­flagellated and rod-shaped. Colonies are circular, raised, entire and pale-yellow-colored after 2 days on R2 A at 30° C. Negative for nitrate reduction, indole production, glucose fermentation, arginine dihydrolase, urease, esculin hydrolysis, gelatinase and β­galactosidase in API 20NE. D-Glucose, N-acetyl-glucosamine, D-maltose and malate are utilized. Does not utilize L-arabinose, D-mannitol, D-mannose, gluconate, caprate, adipate, citrate and phenylacetate. Strain AX 5 (= NIBRBA0000114894) has been isolated from mud flat, Incheon, Korea.
