Euplocania bujariensis View in CoL n. sp. Male
( Figs 1–8 View FIGURES 1–8 )
Diagnosis. Belonging in species group amabilis , of García Aldrete et al. (2013) and subgroup picta , of Vinasco- Mondragón et al. (2018). It differs from the species of its subgroup by having the forewing pterostigma with a small hyaline window at the lower angle and by having the lateral posterior projections of the hypandrium with the apex of the inner margin not acuminate. It is close to E. picta New in having the hypandrium with a small acuminate projection on each side, anterior to each posterior projection and by having a mesal endophallic sclerite with postero-lateral processes longer than the median process, differing in details of the hypandrium and phallosome (compare Figs 6 and 7 View FIGURES 1–8 in this paper with Figs 16 and 17 View FIGURES 16–22 in New 1980).
Color (in 80% ethanol). Compound eyes black, ocelli hyaline, with ochre centripetal crescents, head pattern ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1–8 ). Scape dark brown, pedicel yellow, f1–f3 pale yellow. Mx4 yellow with apex brown. Legs with coxae, trochanters and femora pale yellow, tibiae yellowish, with apex dark brown; tarsomere 1 yellow, tarsomeres 2–3 dark brown. Forewing veins brown, with a dark brown spot at wing margin; a marginal pigmented band from R 4+5 to A 2 with two hyaline areas, boomerang shaped, on each side of veins, distally at wing margin, from R 4+5 to Cu 1a; Rs and crossvein Rs-M dark brown. Pterostigma dark brown, with a small hyaline window at lower angle ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1–8 ). Hindwings ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 1–8 ), almost hyaline, veins brown, each with a brown spot distally at wing margin.
Morphology. As in diagnosis, plus the following: Head with vertex concave in the middle, slightly above the level of the upper border of the compound eyes, these without interommatidial setae ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1–8 ). Outer cusp of lacinial tip broad, with five denticles ( Fig. 5 View FIGURES 1–8 ). Forewing pterostigma almost triangular, areola postica tall, with round apex, left forewing M ( Fig.2 View FIGURES 1–8 ) with four primary branches, M 4 forked, resulting in M 4a and M 4b, right forewing M ( Fig. 3 View FIGURES 1–8 ) with five primary branches. Hindwing Rs straight, R 2+3 straight, R 4+5 convex in the middle, M strongly sinuous ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 1–8 ). Hypandrium of three sclerites, a large central sclerite, bifurcated posteriorly, setae as illustrated ( Fig. 6 View FIGURES 1–8 ). Phallosome ( Fig. 7 View FIGURES 1–8 ) with side struts basally fused, V-shaped, narrowing posteriorly and curved inwards distally. External parameres sickle shaped, with pores in the middle. Mesal sclerite wide, strongly sclerotized, anteriorly concave in the middle, almost M shaped. Two pairs of endophallic sclerites, antero-mesal pair strongly sclerotized, duck shaped and an antero-lateral pair wide basally, with sides narrowing posteriorly, with apex truncate. Paraprocts broadly triangular, sensory fields with 31 trichobothria on basal rosettes, setae as illustrated ( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 1–8 ).
