T y p e g e n u s. Hyainailouros BIEDERMANN, 1863 .

D i a g n o s i s. Hyainailourinae with sectorial upper molars (M2 – M1) with the paracone somewhat larger than the metacone, generally fused together, some genera retain a moderate vertical sulcus between the two cusps, but which can be completely lost. Protocone is in general reduced, in some genera it is relictual or even absent. Lower molars without metaconid and with talonid very reduced or absent.
