Holotype. HNHM Pseud.-873: 1 ex. “ Catatemnus katonai [sic] di Cap.”, “Africa or. [ East Africa , Tanzania], [leg.] Katona, 12.28/1901, Moshi, 1903.IX, leg. Katona ” [12–28.IX. 1903 in original description].

Current status. Valid, as Catatemnus kittenbergeri Caporiacco, 1947 .

Remarks. The collector’s real name was Kálmán Kittenberger, but he was obliged at that time to use a “more Hungarian” name (“Katona”) for political reasons. Presumably this was explained to di Caporiacco after the deposition of the holotype.
