Puliciphora rufipes Silva Figueroa, 1916 View in CoL
Material. Israel: 1♂ Almagor [32°55'N 35°36'E], 7–30.iv.2011, W. Kuslitzky, Malaise trap.
Remarks. This presumably Neotropical species (Disney, 1988) also occurs in South Africa (Disney, 1988; Mostovski, 2004), Zimbabwe (Disney pers. comm. teste Carles-Tolrá, 2002), south-western France ( Disney, 1993), Andorra ( Carles-Tolrá, 2007), north-eastern and southern Spain ( Carles-Tolrá, 2002; Vela et al., 2011), Madeira ( Disney & Franquinho Aguiar, 2008) and the Canary Islands (Disney et al., 2010). With its Israeli record, the distribution of P. rufipes becomes somewhat puzzling and prompts further investigation, which, however, falls beyond the scope of the present paper.
The species is often found in association with dead animal matter (l.c. and references therein).
