Etymology. mnrj is an acronym of the Museu Nacional do Rio de Janeiro (MNRJ). It is a tribute to this important museum that was destroyed by fire on 2th September 2018.
Biology. Unknown.
Remarks. When the specimen is turned in different positions under the stereomicroscope the color of thoracic pruinosity varies from brown to black, yellowish grey to yellow and vice versa.
Taxonomic discussion. Leinendera mnrj sp. n. differs from L. rubra and L. nigra mainly by the absence of marginal scutellar macrosetae and from L. achaeta by the dark brown postpedicel with a small ventral apical yellow spot ( Fig. 60 View FIGURES 58–64 ). The species is very similar to Leinendera carrerai sp. n., being differentiated by the length of the stylus which is almost two times longer ( Fig. 60 View FIGURES 58–64 ); by the mesonotal yellowish grey stripes that makes a slight curve on the inner margin anteriorly ( Fig. 64 View FIGURES 58–64 ); the digitiform epandrial shape ( Fig. 71 View FIGURES 71–78 ) and the posterior gonocoxal projection which is larger basally occupying almost the entire posterior gonocoxal margin and covered with setae ( Figs. 66–73 View FIGURES 65–70 View FIGURES 71–78 ).
