Diagnosis. Males of Syspira medialuna are easily distinguished from other Hispaniolan species of the agujas group by a fairly developed embolar base process ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 A–C), and a spatula-shaped median apophysis in ventral view ( Fig. 5B View FIGURE 5 ; Brescovit et al. 2018: fig. 5A–B). Females are distinguished from other Hispaniolan species by large epigynal posterior plates with quite high anterior edges, twice the size of the other known species ( Fig. 5D View FIGURE 5 ; Brescovit et al. 2018: figs 5C, 6E).
