Distribution in North Carolina: Eastern part of the state. Counties: CU, ED, MO, ON and RB. Distribution in surrounding states: GA ( Johnson 1989b) and TN ( Dennis 1938, Cole 1940). According to Snelling (1995), the status of Dorymyrmex flavus as presented in Johnson (1989) is erroneous. True

D. flavus is a southwestern United States species. Records of D. flavus in North Carolina are probably D.

bureni ( Snelling 1995) .
