Zalat et al. (1992) reported the presence of E. halophilus in Egypt (Ismailia) for the first time. The species is entirely absent from Africa, and its distribution area includes most of northern and central Europe and Cyprus, and recently Turkey ( Hebauer 2006; Darilmaz and Kiyak 2009; Fikáček et al. 2015).
