Type series: Holotype female, dissected and slide mounted, Côte d’Ivoire, River N’zi near Ouokokro (O), drift day, 10.i.1978 Statzner. Paratypes (all coll. Statzner, if not mentioned otherwise, dissected and slide mounted): 0/1/ 0, same locality as holotype, drift day, 10.i.1978; 1/1/0, same locality as holotype, drift night, 09.viii.1977, in liquid; 0/1/0, same locality as holotype, drift night, 27.i.1977; 0/1/0, same locality as holotype, drift night, 11.v.1977; 0/1/0, Côte d’Ivoire, River N’zi near Tinbé (T) drift day, 17.viii.1977, in liquid; 0/1/0, ibid., drift day, 11.vii.1977; 0/1/0, ibid., drift night, 12.i.1977; 0/1/0, Côte d’Ivoire, River N’zi near Fetekro (F), drift day, 13.i.1977; 1/0/0, Côte d’Ivoire, River N’zi near Kolomikro (K), drift night, 26.i.1977.

Diagnosis: Dorsal shield oval (L/W ratio 1.1), with medial depression; muscle scars, with well pronounced thickenings, shifted to the edges of medial depression ( Figs. 38D–F View FIGURE 38 A – L ); gnathosomal bay V-shaped; tips of Cx-I ending posterior to frontal margin; medial margin of Cx-IV reduced to a median angle; Cx-III and -IV with a series of longitudinal striae (five pairs on Cx-IV). Palp ( Figs. 29C View FIGURE 29 A – E , 30B View FIGURE 30 A – B ): P-1 without a dorsal seta; P-2 with straight or slightly concave ventral and strongly convexly bowed dorsal margin; P-3 distally higher than proximally, ventral margin proximally with an inflation, from here to distal edge straight; P-4 ventral margin slightly concave. Legs: I- L ( Fig. 29D View FIGURE 29 A – E ), with I-L-6 stout, L/H ratio 2.3-2.4; IV-L: Fig. 29E View FIGURE 29 A – E ; swimming setae numbers: III-L-4, 5; III-L-5, 5-7; IV-L-4, 4-5; IV-L-5, 4-5.

Description:

Male (from River N’zi near Kolomikro): Idiosoma (ventral view: Fig. 30A View FIGURE 30 A – B ) L/W 417/387. Dorsal shield ( Fig. 38F View FIGURE 38 A – L ) L/W 356/318, ratio 1.1; gnathosomal bay L 66. Gonopore L/W 81/15. Palp: total L 139; L/H, L/H ratio: P-1, 17/22, 0.8; P-2, 39/32, 1.2; P-3, 34/21, 1.6; P-4, 36/15, 2.35; P-5, 13/6, 2.1; chelicera total L 79; gnathosoma vL 76.

Female (holotype, in parentheses measurements of paratypes from River N’zi near Tinbe): Idiosoma (ventral view: Fig. 29B View FIGURE 29 A – E ) L/W 456 (459)/405 (413). Dorsal shield ( Fig. 29A View FIGURE 29 A – E ) L/W 377 (389)/347 (350), ratio 1.1 (1.1); gnathosomal bay L 72 (66-71). Gonopore L/W 82 (80)/74 (72), ratio 1.1 (1.1); egg maximum diameter (117). Palp: total L 149 (149-160); L/H, L/H ratio: P-1, 18/22, 0.8 (18-19/21, 0.85-0.89); P-2, 42/37, 1.12 (42/35-37, 1.12- 1.17); P-3, 37/24, 1.6 (35-42/25-26, 1.4-1.6); P-4, 39/17, 2.36 (40-43/16-20, 2.15-2.5); P-5, 13/7, 1.9 (14/8, 1.8); chelicera total L 86 (88); gnathosoma vL 83. Legs: dL of I-L-2-6: (36-40), (36-37), (35-40), (51), (63-68); I-L-6 H (28-29), I-L-6 L/H ratio (2.3-2.4); dL of IV-L: 54 (65), 71 (59), 62 (60), 69 (71), 85 (83), 98 (91).

Etymology: Named after the river from which the type specimen was collected.

Discussion: Djeboa nzia sp. nov. shares with Djeboa crocodilorum sp. nov. from South Africa the V-shaped gnathosomal bay, P-1 lacking dorsal seta and P-3 distally higher than proximally. It differs in the morphology of the dorsal shield, with the central depression less extensive and the lateral ridges not extending to frontal and caudal margin (compare Figs. 38D–F View FIGURE 38 A – L with 38G); P-3 ventral margin distally straight and basally with a small hump; tips of Cx-I not extending beyond frontal margin, and Cx-III/IV with longitudinal striation.

Distribution: Côte d’Ivoire.
