Genus Mideopsellides K.O. Viets, 1962

Type species: Mideopsellides geae K.O. Viets, 1962

Diagnosis: Surface of dorsal shield plain; suture lines of fourth coxae distinct and extending only slightly posterolaterally; coxae well separated laterally; no ridges extending anterolaterally from region of insertion of IV-L; Cxgl-2 located far anterior to genital field; openings for insertion of IV-L partially covered by extensions of Cx-IV; four pairs of Ac, these touching but separated in male and fused into lateral platelets in female; gonopore of female noticeably wider than long; four pairs of setae associated with genital field, these flanking gonopore in the male but lying on the acetabular plates in the female; swimming setae present; palp uncate, lacking ventral tubercles and pointed distoventrally; with the exception of the genital field there is no sexual dimorphism.

Remarks: This is a highly distinct clade distinguished by a genital field with four pairs of acetabula, an uncate palp and the female with acetabula lying on acetabular platelets lying in a very large gonopore. Cook (1974), in his diagnosis of this genus, stated that the male leg exhibited sexual dimorphism. However, this was definitely a mistake and was based on his erroneous belief that an illustration of the fourth leg of Allokrendowskia dentipes continentalis K. O. Viets was that of Mideopsellides .

Distribution: Known only from Eastern Cape Province, South Africa.
