Subgenus Mixomideopsis Cook, 2001
Type species: Mideopsis (Mixomideopsis) sandola Cook, 2001
Diagnosis: Swimming setae present or absent; posterior suture lines of Cx-IV extending more posteriorly to partially enclose the genital field.
Remarks: Probably a monophyletic clade early split off from the north-hemispheric nominate subgenus. Characterized in first line by the different shape of the posteromedial suture of Cx-IV. The two species included differ also remarkably from each other (see discussion of X. madagascariensis ) suggesting an early evolutionary separation.
Distribution: Southern African region with one species from Madagascar and the other from South Africa.
