Neoperla flavescens Chu, 1929 View in CoL

( Figs. 1–5 View FIGURES 1 – 5 )

Neoperla flavescens Chu. 1929 View in CoL . The China Journal. 10:89. Type locality: Zhejiang, Hangzhou. Neoperla flavescens Chu, 1929 View in CoL . Wu, 1938: 110.

Diagnosis. Males of this species are characterized by a concave area formed between the elevated sides of the posterior process of tergum 7 in which the recurved triangular process of tergum 8 rests ( Figs. 2, 3 View FIGURES 1 – 5 ). The aedeagus is heavily sclerotized and has a finger-shaped subapical projection with an abruptly constricted tip ( Figs. 4, 5 View FIGURES 1 – 5 ). Females of this species are characterized by sternum 7 having a dark medial sclerite on the produced subgenital plate (Fig. 106 in Wu 1938).

Remarks. Our specimen agrees well with descriptions by Wu (1938) and Chu (1929). In particular, features of the aedeagus illustrated by Wu (1938) reliably identify our fresh material.
