Type locality: Panama, Panama Province, Barro Colorado Island ( Brennan and Jones 1961b). Type host: Nasua narica (L., 1766) ( Carnivora : Procyonidae ). Type depository: USNM (holotype and paratypes) and FMNH (paratypes). Panama records. In addition to the type data, Brennan and Yunker (1966) reported M. tragulata from a marsupial, D. marsupialis ( Didelphimorphia : Didelphidae ), from Piña, Colón Province and a porcupine, C. quichua (= C. rothschildi ) ( Rodentia : Erethizontidae ), from Pedro Miguel River, Panama Province. Other records. Bolivia ( Brennan 1970a), Mexico (Webb and Loomis 1970), Nicaragua (Webb and Loomis 1970), Surinam ( Brennan and Lukoschus 1971), Venezuela ( Brennan and Reed 1975).
