Type locality: Panama, Chiriquí Province ( Brennan and Jones 1961b). Type host: Scotinomys teguina Alston, 1877 ( Rodentia : Cricetidae ). Type depository: USNM (holotype and paratypes), FMNH (paratypes), NHMUK (paratypes) and SAM (paratypes). Panama records.

In addition to type data, Brennan and Jones (1961b) reported this species from two cricetid rodents, Peromyscus sp. and Reithrodontomys sp. ( Rodentia : Cricetidae ), from Chiriquí Province. Brennan and Yunker (1966) reported T. chiriquensis on a cricetid rodent, S. teguina ( Rodentia : Cricetidae ) from Cerro Punta, Chiriquí Province.
