Herophydrus vittatus Régimbart, 1895 View in CoL
Herophydrus vittatus Régimbart, 1895: 43 View in CoL was transferred to genus Hygrotus View in CoL subgenus Hygrotus View in CoL (s. str.) by Villastrigo et al. (2017b). Thus, this name became a junior secondary homonym of Hygrotus (Leptolambus) vittatus ( Sharp 1884: 441) View in CoL , which was originally published in the binomen Coelambus vittatus View in CoL . The latter name was treated as junior synonym of Hygrotus (Leptolambus) chinensis ( Sharp, 1882) View in CoL by J. Balfour-Browne (1947: 438; with the subgeneric name Coelambus ) for the first time. Afterwards, however, the taxon was again interpreted as valid (e.g. by Kirejtshuk 2001) until the synonymy was re-established by Fery (2003: 148).
Since no synonym of vittatus Régimbart View in CoL exists, the name must be substituted by a new replacement name. This is why I hereby substitute the invalid name Hygrotus (s. str.) vittatus ( Régimbart, 1895) View in CoL by the new replacement name Hygrotus View in CoL (s. str.) mauricei nom. nov. The name is a substantive in the singular genitive formed from the forename of Maurice Régimbart and in honour of that great entomologist.
