2. Sacoila foliosa (Schltr.) Garay (1982: 351) View in CoL ≡ Stenorrhynchos foliosum Schlechter (1921a: 12) . Type:― BRAZIL. Rio de Janeiro: Petrópolis, September 1884, Germain s.n. (B†).
Notes: ―The type collection of those species was destroyed during World War II, as the most orchid types deposited at B ( Merrill 1943, Butzin 1978, 1981, Hiepko 1987). Although Pabst & Dungs (1975) have cited S. foliosa to Brazil (Rio de Janeiro), they did not provide voucher information and/or illustrations supporting its presence. Unfortunately, Schlechter (1921a, b) only cited the type specimens in the protologues and did not provide an illustration that could be considered as a candidate for a lectotype. Szlachetko & Rutkowski (2008: 165) designated as lectotype for E. macrophylla the specimen Christian s.n. supposedly at B but destroyed, a clearly untenable proposal. No other specimens have been registered since then; thus, we are unable to recognise those species.
