Additional material examined. BRAZIL: Bahia: 4 males and 39 females, Feira de Santana, Serra de São José , 22.VIII.2009 – 09.VIII.2010, G. da S.C. Ferreira ( IBSP 160774–160800 View Materials , 160802–160811 View Materials , UEFS) .
Etymology. The specific epithet is a compound noun (Latin) in apposition composed of “crispus” (=stiff, in terms of hair) and “venter” (of the abdomen), referring to the stiff setae present on the ventral side of male abdomen.
Diagnosis. This species is similar to S. minimus sp. nov. for the small size and boxy carapace (see Figs 6–7, 8– 9 View FIGURES 6–9 ), but can easily be distinguished from that and the remaining known species by having a long, spiraled embolus in the male palp ( Figs 10–12 View FIGURES 10–14 ) and long, sinuous copulation ducts ( Figs 13–14 View FIGURES 10–14 ) and anteriorly dislocated pocket in the epigyne ( Fig. 13 View FIGURES 10–14 ).
Remarks. Despite males of this species having a spiraled embolus at the distal end of the tegulum, this embolus curls to the opposite direction when compared to the typical euophryine spiraled embolus.
Description. Male holotype: Total length: 2.00. Carapace dark brown, 1.00 long, 0.72 wide, 0.44 high, cephalic region black covered with sparse white scales ( Figs 8 View FIGURES 6–9 , 47–48 View FIGURES 45–59 ). Ocular quadrangle 0.53 long. Anterior eye row 0.72 wide and posterior 0.68 wide. Chelicera brown. Labium and sternum brown. Endite brown, not projected laterally. Palp light brown, with a short, stout RTA, round tegulum with poorly developed sperm loop and long, distal, curled embolus ( Figs 10–12 View FIGURES 10–14 ). Legs 4=312, dark brown, fading towards tarsi. Length of femur: I 0.49, II 0.45, III 0.63, IV 0.57; patella + tibia: I 0.54, II 0.50, III 0.60, IV 0.56; metatarsus + tarsus: I 0.44, II 0.40, III 0.58, IV 0.68. Spination: femur I–IV d1-1-1; patella I–II 0, III r1, IV 0; tibia I v1r-2-2 (for proportion, see Fig. 64 View FIGURES 60–65 ), II v1r-1r- 1r, p0-1, III p1-1, r1-1, IV v1p-0, p1-1, r1-1; metatarsus I–II v2-2, III v2-2, p1-2, r1-1, IV v0-1p, p1-2, r1-1. Abdomen dorsally dark brown, with two pairs of groups of white scales, being one larger on the anterior half and one smaller on the posterior half ( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 6–9 ); ventrally grayish with stiff setae ( Fig. 59 View FIGURES 45–59 ). Spinnerets yellow.
Female (paratype IBSP 160773): Total length: 2.06. Carapace light brown, dark brown on borders and cephalic region black, 1.00 long, 0.69 wide, 0.44 high ( Fig. 9 View FIGURES 6–9 ). Ocular quadrangle 0.54 long. Anterior eye row 0.70 wide and posterior 0.68 wide. Chelicera yellow. Endite, labium, sternum and palp yellow. Legs 4312, yellow. Abdomen dorsally dark brown, variegated ( Fig. 9 View FIGURES 6–9 ); ventrally cream colored. Epigyne with median pocket relocate anteriorly, large, anterior, semicircular copulation openings, sinuous copulation ducts and elliptical primary spermathecae, in which pores of nutritive glands are observed ( Figs 13–14 View FIGURES 10–14 ).
