Hartmann-Schröder, 1996:520.

Type species: Scionella lornensis Pearson, 1969 , by original designation.

Diagnosis: Branchiae bottle brush-like, only on segment 2; eyespots absent; lateral lappets present on segments 1–3; ventral shields from segment 3; nephridial papillae on segments 6–7; 17 pairs of notopodia from segment 4, notochaetae smooth, lanceolate; neuropodia from segment 5, uncini avicular, without posterior process, but uncinal base curved; uncini in single rows on segments 5–10; uncini in double rows, arranged face to face, until segment 20; thereafter in single rows.

Remarks: The genus was erected by Hartmann-Schröder (1996) in order to include Pista lornensis ( Pearson, 1969) , from Scotland. In this report Pista papillosa (Tourtellote & Kritzler, 1988) is transferred to Pistella because it has all the above generic features.
