Macrosteles serratus Dai, Li & Xing, 2011: 289 , Figs. 1–10, syn. nov., junior homonym of M. serratus Kwon (in Hamilton and Kwon 2010a)
Length (including tegmen). Male: 2.8–3.5 mm; female: 3.2–4.0 mm.
Yellow, vertex with pair of black spots medially, with 2 pairs of transverse stria on anterior margin, twisted.
Male abdomen. 2nd acrotergite with trunk small and V-shaped. 2nd tergal apodeme developed, with posterior lobes enlarged, extending to posterior margin of tergite. 1st sternal apodeme with anterior lobes prominently developed, slightly shorter than wide; posterior lobes slightly shorter than basal width. 2nd sternal apodeme with posterior lobes rather large, about 1.5 times as long as basal width.
Male genitalia. Aedeagal shaft smooth, sometimes with several teeth dorsally and basal ventrally, apical appendages curved caudo-ventrally close to shaft basally, crossed.

Distribution. China (Heilongjiang, Zhejiang, Fujian, Jiangxi, Shandong, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan, Xizang, Shaanxi, Gansu, Xinjiang, Taiwan, Hong Kong), Java, Philippines, East & Central Asia. This species ranges farther south than any other Oriental species of Macrosteles .
Remarks. Macrosteles serrata Dai et al. 2011 (a junior homonym of M. serratus Hamilton & Kwon 2010 a, see above) is treated as a junior synonym of M. striifrons based on the presence of teeth on the shaft of the aedeagus dorsally.
