Calathus (Neocalathus) melanocephalus View in CoL
(Linne, 1758)
Calathus (Neocalathus) anistschenkoi O. Berlov & Ippolitova, 2005: 41 View in CoL syn. n.
Careful study of external morphology, together with aedeagus and endophallus structure
( Figs. 2–5 View Figs ) of type material of C. (N.) anistschenkoi (Paratypes: 1m, 2f – “оз. Байкал, перевал у мыса Елохин, 1250м, 4–6.VII. 2004, Берлов” in russian [lake Baikal, pass near cape Elohin, 1250m, 4–6.VII.2004, Berlov] (cAA)) made it possible to establish that there are not differences with widely distributed species C. (N.) melanocephalus . All distinguishing features indicated in the description are either absent or found in other melanistic populations of the species (“ Spain, Montes Cantabricos, Peña Ubiña, 2300m, 5–6.VII.2009, Anichtchenko A. leg.”; “ Spain, Cantabria, Pico Tres Mares, 2000 2100 m, 24.VII.2019, Anichtchenko & Sciaky leg.”; “C. Altay Mts., Seminsky Mt. rng., Sarlyk Mt., 1900 m, 19.6.2002,A. Menshikov leg.”; “E Siberia, Irkutsk province, Kuytunskiy district, 9 km W Uyan, 24.6.2009, A. Shavrin leg.”).A color photograph of the type specimen of C. (N.). anistschenkoi has never been available at the web address given in the article, and is first time given here ( Fig. 1 View Fig ). New synonymy is established here.
