Osbornellus lewisi Domínguez & Godoy View in CoL , sp. nov.

( Figs. 36a–36e)

Description. Length: 4.3–4.9 mm. Member of the O. maesi group ( Fig. 1c). General descrption similar to O. maesi .

Male genitalia: Pygofer about twice as long as greatest width, moderately projected; apex wide, rounded, long; macrosetae dispersed along apical half ( Fig. 36a). Valve triangular, narrow, long, with rounded margins, anterior half slightly curved. Plates long, apex pointed, setae plumose ( Fig. 36b). Style with apophysis short, striate, apex truncate ( Fig. 36c). In ventral view aedeagus with square base; shaft straight, shorter than ventral processes, apex truncate ( Fig. 36d). Ventral processes arising at one-fourth length of aedeagus, divergent from base, tapered, apices pointed. In lateral view shaft with base curved dorsad, apex slightly curved ventrad, similar in length to ventral processes, apex truncate; dorsal projection slender, tapered, curved slightly caudad, apex pointed. Gonopore apical. Ventral processes narrow, separated from shaft, slightly curved ventrad at base, apices pointed ( Fig. 36e).

Diagnosis. Externally very similar to O. maesi , but in ventral view the ventral processes of O. lewisi are widely divergent whereas in O. maesi they are more parallel. In lateral view the aedeagal shaft of O. maesi is curved dorsad, with the apex slightly curved ventrad, and the ventral processes separated. In O. maesi the shaft is curved dorsad and the ventral processes are closer together.

Distribution. Known only from Costa Rica; 0–1500 m.

Etymology. This species is named for Jim Lewis, in appreciation for his curation of the Hemiptera collection at INBio.
