( Figs. 40a–40e)

Description: Length: 5.7 mm. Member of the O. rarus group ( Fig. 3). Vertex angulate, median length about equal to distance between eyes at posterior margin. General color yellowish. Vertex along anterior margin marked with pale spots enclosing pale ocelli; whitish semicircular spot bordered with brown behind apex; pale yellow dots behind ocelli, coronal suture brown, bordered with white inverted “T”-shaped mark split by brown along suture, margined with brown. Pronotum mottled brown-orange; along anterior margin with irregular light and dark markings. Scutellum yellow-orange with white along each lateral margin, with yellow-orange band at center margined laterally with yellow. Anterior wing, transparent, pale yellow, with white spots, veins brown; usually with brown spots along costa and commissural line.

Male genitalia: Pygofer about 1.5 times as long as greatest width; moderately projected posteriorly, apical portion wide, dorsally concave; macrosetae long, dispersed along apical half of pygofer ( Fig.40a). Valve triangular, margins rounded, slightly curved in anterior half. Plates long, wide at base, middle portion narrow, apex rounded, setae short ( Fig. 40b). Style with apophysis long, straight, apex truncate and curved ( Fig. 40c). Aedeagus in ventral view with base quadrate and wide, shaft straight and wide, shorter than ventral processes, apex slightly pointed; lateral extension of dorsal projection small, curved ( Fig. 40d). Ventral processes arising at one-fourth distance from base of aedeagus, close together at base then slightly separated toward apex, very narrow, straight, apices lance-like. In lateral view shaft wide at base, apex tapered and rounded, slightly longer than ventral processes, straight; dorsal projection long, widened at midlength, narrowed at tip, slightly curved caudad. Gonopore subapical. Ventral processes close to shaft, straight, narrow, apices pointed and lance-like ( Fig. 40e).

Diagnosis. Very similar externally to O. rarus and O. bitelum , but in ventral view the ventral processes of O. lanceolatus have a spine close to the apex. The ventral processes of O. rarus lack a spine and those of O. bitelum have a pointed lobe near the apex.

Distribution: Known only from Costa Rica; 1950–2100 m.

Etymology. This species is named for lance-like ventral processes of the aedeagus.
