Osbornellus eberhardi Domínguez & Godoy View in CoL , sp. nov.

( Figs. 16a–16e)

Description. Length: 4.9–6.0 mm. Member of the O. auronitens group ( Fig. 1a). General description as in O. trinax , with transverse white band extending below the apical band, bordered posteriorly by a short black line in form of an inverted “V”, not extending to the margins of the eyes.

Male genitalia: Pygofer less than twice as long as width, moderately projected posteriorly, apex narrow and rounded; macrosetae long, dispersed along distal third of ( Fig. 16a). Valve slightly triangular. Plates long, apex pointed and with plumose macrosetae ( Fig. 16b). Style with short apophysis, slightly curved, apex rounded ( Fig. 16c). Aedeagus in ventral view wide near base; shaft slender, straight, apex truncate, slightly longer than ventral processes ( Fig. 16d). Ventral processes arising at distal third of aedeagal length, wide at base, tapered, apices sharp. In lateral view, shaft curved dorsad, apex truncate; dorsal projection stout, expanded to blunt tip. Gonopore apical. Ventral processes close to shaft, curved dorsad at base; apices separated, curved caudad, sharp ( Fig. 16e).

Diagnosis. Very similar to O. anonae in appearance but O. eberhardi has the aedeagus in ventral view with ventral processes straight, whereas in O. anonae they are divergent at the apices.

Distribution. Known only from Costa Rica; 220– 560 m.

Etymology. This species is named in honor of William Eberhard for his help given to the first author during his thesis preparation.
