Species widely distributed in the Palaearctic, known from all active life instars ( Mąkol and Wohltmann 2012, and references therein). Hitherto recorded as parasite of Tipulidae and Limoniidae (Diptera) : Limnobia nubeculosa (Meigen, 1804) (Limoniidae) ( Barnes 1924); Tipula sp. (Tipulidae) ( Shiba 1969); Dicranophragma nemorale (Meigen, 1818) (= Limnophila nemoralis ), Gonomyia simplex Tonnoir, 1920 , Idiocera bradleyi (Edwards, 1939) (= Gonomyia bradleyi ) ( Limoniidae ) ( Rack 1976); Limnophila (Brachylimnophila) nemoralis agg. (Meigen, 1818) ( Limoniidae ) ( Rack 1977); Limonia caucasica Lackschewitz, 1940 (Limoniidae) ( Saboori et al. 2012).
