Type locality: Nicobar Isl. [ India] .
Distribution in India: Andaman & Nicobar Isl. (Nicobar Isl.) ( Yakovlev & Singh 2019). Global records: Indian endemic.
Remarks. The specimen identified as Cossus arenicola Staudinger, 1879: 317 by Arora (1976) belongs to this species. Thus, C. arenicola Staudinger is not reported from India.
