Stygohydracarus subterraneus Walter, 1947

Remarks. The species is rare in the Lurenzgriecht. Since no larva of the genus is hitherto known, it was supposed that the larva can be separated from the related Neoacaridae by the most striking character which is also used in Smith et al. (2009) for separating the families: Setae Mp2 located well in anterior half of the Dp ( Neoacarus ), vs. setae Mp2 near midlength of plate ( Athienemaniidae or S. subterraneus , respectively).
