Megalinus pandarum (Bordoni, 2003)

Bordoni, 2003a: 60 ( Lepidophallus ; Type locality: China, Sichuan Prov., Baoxing Co., Feng Tong Zhai, km post. 29 (panda reserve); Bordoni, 2007b: 70 (catalog); Bordoni, 2008: 58 ( Megalinus ; species list of Megalinus ).

Type material: male, with labels as follows: “ HOLOTYPUS, Lepidophallus , pandarum sp. n., Bordoni det. 2002” / “ XANTHOLININI ,? genus, det. Newton 2000 ” / “‘ CHINA, Sichuan Prov.,’ Bao, ‘xing Co.,’ ca Feng Tongzhai, xm. post 29 (panda preserve), Margin of Dashui Gou (stream)” / “ 1400m elev. 13.viii.1995 R.E., ‘Roughley,’ Xie Weiping & Yu Pei, Yu colls.” ( FMNH) .

Distribution. China (Sichuan).

Remarks. This species is unique and could be easily distinguished from its congeners by: 1) body large sized (9 mm) and dark brown, last abdominal segment yellowish; 2) head densely punctate, interspaces between punctures ca. puncture diameter, except median longitudinal region of 0.1 mm width impunctate; 3) pronotum elongate shaped, with two admedian rows and 3–4 lateral rows of punctures; 4) elytra dense punctate, interspaces between puncture row less than puncture diameter; 5) mesoscutellum bearing distinct transverse microstriae; 6) abdominal segments bearing mixed microsculpture of both isodiameter mesh and transverse microstriae; 7) abdominal segments densely punctate, interspaces between punctures 1–2 punctures’ diameter; 8) unique male sternite IX; 9) median lobe of aedeagus egg-like; inner sac bag-shaped, dark colored, and without obvious spines.
