Description: Bosmans (2006b: 184, figs 32–39).

New records: Faro: Barragem do Arade, 2 males, stones in Pinus forest, 16.II.2006 (CRB); Barragem de Beliche, 1 male, marshy area with Typha , 18.II.2006 (CRB); Lagos, 2 females, herbs along city walls, 13.II.2006 (CRB); Lagos, Luz, 1 female, stones in grassland, 15.II.2006 (CRB); Portimão, Alvor, 1 female, 7.IV.1991 (CJFM); Ribeira de Almargem , 1 male, stones at border of river, 19.II.2006 (CRB); Salema, Boca do Rio , stones in ruins, 14.II.2006 (CRB); Sto. Estêvão N., Cascata Moinhos da Rocha , 2 males 7 females, herbs bordering fields, 19.II.2006 (CRB) .

Distribution: Formerly known from Morocco, Gibraltar and the Spanish province of Cadiz ( Bosmans 2006b) and cited here for the first time from Portugal in several localities in the southern province Faro.

Habitat type: The species can occur in different habitats, from pine forests, marshes, borders of rivers to margins of cultivated fields.

Phenology: Adults were collected from February to April.

[ Palliduphantes cernuus ( Simon, 1884) ]

Listed in Cardoso’s Portugal Spider Catalogue (2009b), but incorrectly identified. The specimens belong to Palliduphantes cadiziensis (Wunderlich) (see there). Palliduphantes cernuus is deleted from the checklist of Portugal.
