Type Species Cirratulus viridis Langerhans, 1880 , original designation by Chamberlin, 1919.

Diagnosis. Prostomium elongate; peristomium elongate to short, with asetigerous annulations; dorsal tentacles usually beginning anterior to setiger 1; middle body segments not moniliform; parapodia with widely separated noto- and neuropodia; modified setae include bidentate crotchetlike hooks, not arranged in cinctures.
