Type species: Ecoporanga achira Napp and Martins, 2006 (by original designation).

The tribe Compsocerini Thomson, 1864 ( Cerambycidae : Cerambycinae ) contains 20 genera in the Neotropical region. The tribe is characterized by the palpi with apical segments securiform and eyes well-developed, with the segment connecting ocular lobes as wide as the superior lobe. Ecoporanga is mainly similar to Achenoderus Napp, 1979 , Chaetosopus Napp and Martins, 1988 , and Dilocerus Napp, 1980 .

Achenoderus and Dilocerus differ from Ecoporanga by the sides of the prothorax with tubercles and clavate femora. In Ecoporanga the sides of the prothorax are unarmed and the femora are cylindrical. Ecoporanga differs from Chaetosopus by the antennae without tufts of setae, sides of prothorax rounded and cylindrical femora. In

Chaetosopus the antennae have a tuft of setae on antennomere III, the sides of the prothorax are subparallel and the femora are clavate. Chariergus White, 1855 , treated by Napp and Martins (2006) as similar to Ecoporanga , is currently classified in the tribe Unxiini Napp, 2007 (Cerambycinae) .
