EOO: 138,775.826 km ². AOO: 60 km ². Evaluation of IUCN: Least Concern.

Eugenia choapamensis has a distribution in the Mesoamerican region from the Southeast and Gulf of Mexico to Honduras ( WCSP 2020). In Mexico the species is known only in the states of Chiapas, Veracruz, and Oaxaca, ranging from 200 to 1,200 m elev. Nineteen collection records were found in the Mesoamerican region. The estimated extent of occurrence (EOO) exceeds the threshold for a threatened category under criterion B, whilst the estimated area of occupancy (AOO) falls into the Endangered category. However, the area of occupancy (AOO) is considered underestimated due to the area of habitat available. The habitat of occurrence is the Humid Tropical Forest. The habitat is under high threat in the region of Veracruz and north of Chiapas in the municipality of Pichucalco. The development of cities, expansion of the agricultural frontier, forest fires and other anthropic activities are the major threats from which is inferred a continuing decline of habitat quality. Eugenia choapamensis also occurs within the “Reserva de la Biosfera Selva El Ocote” located in Chiapas and in the “Selva las Chimalapas” in Oaxaca, where the habitat presents better conditions ( CONABIO 2018). In Central American countries there are records the species, in Río Plátano Biosphere Reserve ( Honduras) located, and only in areas of preserved Tropical Forests in Guatemala and Belize. As such, Eugenia choapamensis is classified here as Least Concern (LC).
