EOO: 1,448,833.845 km ². AOO: 72 km ². Evaluation of IUCN: Least Concern.

Eugenia octopleura has a wide distribution that ranges from the Gulf and Southeast Mexico region, Central America, to Venezuela, including the Antilles ( WCSP 2020). The estimated extent of occurrence (EOO) and the area of occupancy (AOO) based on the potential habitat available exceed the thresholds for a threatened category under the criterion B. There are more than 10 known locations based on 22 collections, from Mexico to Venezuela. Four records were found for Mexico, with three records in Chiapas and one in Hidalgo but on the continent. This species is one of the most well distributed Eugenia species. The species occurs mainly in the Humid Tropical Forest and the Humid Montane Forest from 226 to 2,070 m elev. The habitat is in a good state of conservation; in the areas of tropical occurrence, in two biodiversity conservation areas in Chiapas which are the “Monumento Natural Bonampak” and the “Monumento Natural Yaxchilán” with a humid tropical forest that is part of the “Mesoamerican Biological Corridor”. This corridor connects Mexican biological reserves with those of Central America, contributing to the continuity of biological interactions of species that occur in this region ( CONABIO 2018, CCAD 1992, Corrales & Zuñiga 2001, Vázquez et al. 2011). Therefore, Eugenia octopleura is classified here as Least Concern (LC).
