Type species. Procladius fuscosignatus Kieffer (1910)  

Emended diagnosis

Based on specimens from southeastern Brazil, the generic description of Clinotanypus   to pupa ( Fittkau & Murray 1986) must be emended to include the following characters: thoracic horn with basal lobe present or absent.
