In Canada, this widespread, apparently uncommonly seen eucnemid species has been taken from New Brunswick, Ontario, and Québec. In the United States, O. orchesides was previously recorded from Arkansas, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wisconsin ( Otto 2013). The new state record is for Louisiana based on a specimen taken from a Lindgren funnel trap baited with ethanol.
