Recorded at: Pahang: Krau Wildlife Reserve [ 11, 41]; Johor: Pulau Pisang [ 23]; Pulau Pinang: Pulau Pinang [ 23]; Selangor: Pulau Angsa and Batu Caves [ 23], Bukit Kutu Wildlife Reserve [ 51], Ulu Gombak [ 52]; Kedah: Pulau Langkawi [ 23], Ulu Muda Forest Reserve [ 57];
Perak: Bukit Jerneh Cave and Tumang Lembing Cave [ 30] ; Terengganu: Bukit Dendong [ 97].
T. melanopogon is primarily a cave dweller but has been recorded in lowland and hill forests, plantations and buildings. Individuals have been reported roosting at the entrance of caves, in rock crevices and hollowed dead trees [ 11, 14, 23].
