Key to the species of Hirsutopes View in CoL currently known from the Andaman Islands

The distribution of the three known species of Hirsutopes View in CoL is shown in Fig. 14 View Fig. 14 . All of them are endemic to the Andaman Islands. H. andamanensis View in CoL and H. megaoculatus occur on the main archipelago from North Andaman Island (historical data) down to South Andaman Island (recent data), and H. pajnii View in CoL sp. n. seems to be restricted to

Havelock Island. The three species can be separated as follows:

1 Pronotum irregularly and coarsely punctuate, elytral intervals strongly vaulted, intervals 1–4 glabrous and generally deprived of green scales, these mainly scattered along striae and on lateral intervals, so that elytra appear dark (or brownish, depending on the body colour) and greenish striped ( Fig. 12 View Figs 12 – 13 ). Penis broad, apex broadly triangular with sharp tip ( Figs 6–7) .. .................................................... andamanensis Pajni, 1990 View in CoL

– Pronotum with regular and fine punctuation, elytral intervals weakly vaulted, intervals 1–4 not glabrous, green scales arranged other than above: either homogeneously green or pattern less contrasting and not in stripes ............................................. 2

2 Vestiture homogeneous, consisting of green-bluish scales ( Fig. 13 View Figs 12 – 13 ). Penis narrow, apex acutely angular and regularly pointed to tip ( Figs 8–9) ........ megaoculatus Pajni, 1990

– Vestiture greenish with dark spots on first five and last two intervals, intervals 6and 7and most of suture entirely set with green-bluish scales ( Figs 10–11 View Figs 10 – 11 ). Penis broader, apex broad triangular with prolonged tongue at tip ( Figs 3–4) ....................... pajnii View in CoL sp. n.
