Geographic distribution. Curaçao ( Ribeiro et al. 2017), Ecuador ( Torre-Bueno 1915), Peru ( Kirkaldy & Torre-Bueno 1909).

Distribution in Peru. Loreto ( Lauck 1962), Cajamarca ( Ribeiro et al. 2017), La Libertad ( Lauck 1962), Lima ( Lauck 1962; Blancas 1978; García-Ávila et al. 1996; Peralta-Argomeda & Huamantinco-Araujo 2014; Ribeiro et al. 2017), Callao ( Ribeiro et al. 2017), unknown department ( Kirkaldy & Torre-Bueno 1909).

Notes. Existing records of this species from Borneo ( Indonesia), Mexico, Venezuela, Brazil, Chile, and Argentina ( Mayr 1863, 1871; Dufour 1863; Walker 1873; Berg 1879; Kirkaldy & Torre-Bueno 1909; Torre-Bueno 1915; Pennington 1921; De Carlo 1930; Hungerford 1944; Lauck 1962) are incorrect ( Ribeiro et al. 2017). Specimens reported by Hungerford (1944) actually correspond to B. venezuelae Lauck, 1962 ( Lauck 1962). The record from Colombia ( CORANTIOQUIA 2015) needs verification.
