Type:— INDIA, Tamil Nadu, Coimbatore district, Anamalai hills, 1866, Beddome s.n. [lectotype, K ( K000669921 , image! Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 ); isolectotype, MH! ( MH00001914 ), designated here] .

Salacia beddomei was described by Gamble from Anamalai hills Coimbatore, India based on the Beddome’s collection. In the protologue no type has been mentioned. Two specimens are placed at K and MH collected by R. A. Beddome in 1866, and annotated by Gamble (1916). The specimen placed at K ( K 000669921) agrees with protologue and has illustration of the flower by Gamble therefore designated here as lectotype, while duplicate at MH ( MH 00001914) as isolectotype.
