Kurz (1875) described Salacia jenkinsii from Assam based on the collection by A. E. Jenkins. Type collections mentioned in the protologue (Assam, Jenkins s.n.) are placed at CAL ( CAL0000007480 About CAL ; CAL0000007481 About CAL ), which constitutes flowering twigs corresponding to the original description. The specimen CAL0000007481 About CAL is designated lectotype since it bears more flowers .
