Xyleborus magnus Niisima 1910: 111 . Xyleborus chujoi Schedl 1951: 73 . New synonymy. Xyleborus rufobrunneus var. dihingensis Eggers

1930: 189. New synonymy. Ambrosiodmus dihingensis (Eggers, 1930) : Wood

and Bright 1992: 673 (new combination). Beaverium dihingensis (Eggers, 1930) : Beaver et al.

2014: 32 (new combination).

The species description of X. magnus was well written and is unambiguous in describing the morphology of the holotype specimen. The description clearly matches the morphology of X. rufobrunneus var. dihingensis , and X. magnus is here recognized as the senior synonym. The locality of the type specimen was listed as ‘unknown’, but the specimen was described with other specimens collected from the island of Honshu, Japan. Specimens and photographs of X. chujoi were compared to those of X. magnus . Some minor variation was seen in body proportions and declivital sculpturing, but this variation fell within that seen among specimens from across the known distribution in Asia. Therefore, X. chujoi is placed in synonymy.

Ambrosiodmus dihingensis , a synonym of X. magnus , was placed in Beaverium Hulcr and Cognato by Beaver et al. (2014). Since these two taxa are conspecific, X. magnus is here placed in Beaverium .
