Genus Gephyrocrinus Koehler & Bather, 1902 View in CoL

Type species of the genus: Gephyrocrinus grimaldii Koehler & Bather, 1902 .

Emended diagnosis. Five arms; arm division at IBr2ax exceptional; proximal arm pattern usually 1+2 3 4 5+6 7+8 9+10 with first pinnule on Br4, rarely on Br5. Brachial width and height decreasing slowly in proximal arm. Proximal inflated part of genital pinnules with numerous additional plates never in regular rows, or irregular larger plates never H-shaped; lateral plates on each side variably developed in mid pinnule, sometimes reaching distal part. Tegmen variably inflated with anal sac well-developed and taller or slightly shorter than oral cone. Aboral border of basal ring flanged except in some larger specimens. Stalk symplexies with 6–8 crenular units of 1–3 short crenulae.

Included species. G. grimaldii Koehler & Bather, 1902 (northeastern Atlantic, 1,420 to 1,968 m); G. messingi n. sp. (northeastern Pacific, 1,777 to 2,110 m).
