Key to the Triatominae View in CoL species of Veracruz

1. Distal margin of the first rostral segment reaching the eye center and longer than the second rostral segment. Scutellum with 1+1 lateral large setiferous subconical horizontal projections; scutellar process lanceolate, depressed, and with a conspicuous dorsal sulcus. Adult body length no more than 10 mm ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 2 – 5 )................................ Belminus costaricensis View in CoL

- Distal margin of the first rostral segment not reaching the eye center and shorter than or as long as the second rostral segment. Scutellum without lateral large setiferous subconical horizontal projections; scutellar process variable but not lanceolate. Adult body length over 10 mm ................................................................................ 2

2. Antenniferous tubercles inserted close to anterior margin of eyes................................................ 3

- Antenniferous tubercles inserted about the middle of preocular region of head...................................... 4

3. General body coloration light brown or light orange brown, glabrous dorsally. Anterior portion of pronotum with lateral and discal tubercles reduced or obsolescent; posterior margin of pronotum with a black strip; connexival segments with anterior dark spots dorsally; hemelytra light brown or light yellowish brown ( Fig. 6 View FIGURES 6 – 9 )................... Panstrongylus geniculatus View in CoL

- General body coloration dark brown to black, with adpressed golden setae dorsally. Anterior portion of pronotum with the fore lobe tubercles reddish and posterior margin of pronotum with three yellowish spots; connexival segments with dark central spot dorsally; hemelytra pale green ( Fig. 7 View FIGURES 6 – 9 )......................................... Panstrogylus rufotuberculatus View in CoL

4. Posterior process of scutellum short, about one-half as long as main body of scutellum. Adult body length no more than 23 mm ( Fig. 5 View FIGURES 2 – 5 )................................................................................. Triatoma barberi View in CoL

- Process of scutellum elongate, more than one-half the length of main body of scutellum, rounded or like spine apically. Adults body length usually longer than 23mm, rarely under that size................................................... 5

5. Posterior process of scutellum pointed or spine-like. Corium with subapical reddish spot reaching the level of m-cu cross vein. Connexivum dark without spots ( Fig. 3 View FIGURES 2 – 5 )..................................................... Eratyrus cuspidatus View in CoL

- Posterior process of scutellum elongated and rounded apically. Corium with different color pattern. Connexivum with spots orange, yellow or red spots............................................................................. 6

6. Corium with an extensive yellowish white area, narrowly orange at base and black at apex ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 2 – 5 )..... Meccus pallidipennis View in CoL

- Corium never with yellowish white area, dark with yellow or orange markings..................................... 7

7. Connexival segments dorsally and ventrally with yellow or orange-yellow spot occupying more than posterior third of each segment. Clavus black basally, yellow apically. Corium predominantly yellow or orange-yellow, with apical and central dark - spot, the latter of varied size ( Figs. 10–15 View FIGURES 10 – 13 View FIGURES 14 – 17 )................................................... Triatoma dimidiata View in CoL

- Connexival segments dark. Clavus and corium variable in coloration. Corium predominantly dark, with pale spots in different patterns............................................................................................. 8

8. First antennal segment approaching the level of clypeus apex. Pronotum reddish brown or black, with lateral margins and humeral angles pale ( Fig. 9 View FIGURES 6 – 9 )................................................................ Triatoma rubida View in CoL

- First antennal segment elongate, attaining or slightly surpassing the level of clypeus apex. Pronotum uniformly dark....... 9

9. Connexival segments black, narrowly marked with yellow along posterior fourth or third adjacent to intersegmental suture. Corium dark, with base and subapical spot yellowish ( Figs. 16–17 View FIGURES 14 – 17 ).............................. Triatoma gerstaeckeri View in CoL

- Connexival segments black, each one with large yellow spot, remote from anterior but closely approaching posterior border of segment and adjoining connexival suture. Corium with yellow subapical spot situated at apex of cell formed by R and M veins ( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 6 – 9 )................................................................................
