Alloperla yangi Li & Wang View in CoL , sp. n.

( Figs. 1 View FIGURES 1 – 7 ─11)

Diagnosis. This species is characterized by the head and pronotum without dark markings ( Figs. 1, 2 View FIGURES 1 – 7 ). The epiproct is sub-elliptical in dorsal view ( Figs. 4 View FIGURES 1 – 7 , 8 View FIGURES 8 – 9 ) and flattened in lateral view ( Figs. 5 View FIGURES 1 – 7 , 9 View FIGURES 8 – 9 ). Dorsum of epiproct with lateral margin bare ( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 8 – 9 ), basal ½ with many appressed setae and sparse irregularly arranged setae on apical ½. The epiproct with shallow marginal serrations ( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 8 – 9 ).

Male ( Figs. 1 View FIGURES 1 – 7 ─7). Forewing length 9.0- 9.5 mm, hindwing length 8.1-8.4 mm. General color, greenish in life, white in ethanol. Head and pronotum without markings. Compound eyes and ocelli black. Antennae dark brown except basal segments pale to light brown. Abdominal terga 1-6 with brown median stripe, tergum 1 with one small median stigma and two lateral markings, terga 2-4 pigmentation each with two light areas; epiproct brown, cerci 10 segments, generally pale but tips of 9-10 segments brown. Epiproct ( Figs. 8 View FIGURES 8 – 9 ─11). Length ca. 224 μm, greatest width ca. 128 μm. Epiproct sub-elliptical in dorsal view and flattened in lateral view. Dorsum of epiproct with lateral margin bare, basal ½ with many appressed setae and sparse irregularly arranged setae on apical ½. Epiproct with shallow marginal serrations.

Female. Unknown.

Type material. Holotype: male, China: Liaoning, Kuandian County, Quanshanlinchang, 18.7070 N, 108.8247 E, 2009. VII.7, Junchao Wang. Paratype: 1 male, same data as holotype.

Etymology. The species is named in honor of the late professor Chikun Yang, in recognition of his great contributions to Chinese stonefly fauna.

Distribution. China (Liaoning).

Remarks. The new species is most similar to A. thompsoni from the Greater Khingan Mountains in northern China, but is distinguished from the latter by the relatively longer apical piece of the epiproct (ca. 224 μm) with shallow marginal serrations ( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 8 – 9 ). In A. thompsoni , the male epiproct is short (0.10 mm) and flared apically with large serrations (Nelson and Hanson 1976, figs.1─3). The new species also seems related to A. mediata by having a similar serrated epiproct, but the epiproct of A. yangi is widest medially and lacking marginal setae ( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 8 – 9 ), whereas the epiproct of A. mediata is constricted and fringed with long marginal setae at the apical half ( Teslenko and Zhiltzova 2009: figs. 554─555).
