Belon (1903) described Dorcasta cuprina based on syntypes from Bolivia (Cochabamba). Wappes et al. (2006) recorded the species from the Bolivian department of Santa Cruz, and Galileo & Martins (2006b) from Brazil (Rio Grande do Sul).
